  • Key functions & working principle
Working Principle 1. Solid Collar: Press-fit onto the shaft (interference fit) during assembly – the slight dimensional difference between collar bore and shaft creates a tight bond that resists axial/radial movement. Installed via press machine (no fasteners needed).
2. Split-Set Collar: Positioned on the shaft at the desired location; tightening the clamp bolts compresses the split collar, reducing the bore diameter and clamping the collar tightly to the shaft. The friction between collar and shaft prevents axial sliding, while a keyway (if fitted) blocks radial rotation.
3. Load Resistance: The collar abuts against a shoulder on the shaft or adjacent component (e.g., gear, bearing), transferring axial loads to the shaft housing and preventing component displacement during operation.
Core Functions 1. Axial Positioning: Secures shafts, gears, bearings, and cylinder rods in a fixed axial position – prevents end-to-end movement that could damage seals, gears, or bearings
2. Radial Locking: (With keyway) Stops rotational slippage between collar and shaft – ensures torque transfer in drive train components
3. Load Distribution: Distributes axial loads from moving components (e.g., hydraulic cylinder piston) to the shaft housing – reduces stress on individual components
4. Easy Maintenance: Split-set design enables quick replacement without disassembling the entire shaft assembly – minimizes equipment downtime
