1.Power Transmission: The flywheel is installed at the rear of the engine and rotates coaxially with the crankshaft. Its main function is to transmit the power of the engine to the transmission or clutch. By rotating, the flywheel transfers the power of the crankshaft to other components, enabling the normal operation of construction machinery, such as driving the walking system or working device of an excavator.
2.Balancing Engine Operation: The flywheel has a large moment of inertia, which can balance the torque fluctuations of the engine, making the engine operation more stable. During the operation of the engine, the force on the piston in each cylinder is uneven, resulting in torque fluctuations. The flywheel can absorb and release energy through its own inertia, reducing these fluctuations and ensuring the stable rotation of the engine.
3.Assisting Engine Starting: When starting the engine, the starter motor drives the flywheel to rotate, and then the flywheel drives the crankshaft to rotate, so that the engine can complete the intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust processes and start smoothly. The flywheel stores rotational energy to maintain a consistent engine speed and reduce power fluctuations during the starting process.
