First and foremost, it is crucial to clarify the model and specifications of the forklift, as its dimensions and lifting depth will directly impact the racking specifications and overall layout. Additionally, understanding the forklift's lifting height and the warehouse's clear height is essential for ensuring efficient racking utilization.
Secondly, when storing goods, it is recommended to start from the inner part of the shelves and then proceed outward, which helps maintain stability and maximize space utilization. For outbound operations, goods should be retrieved from the outermost layer first, then sequentially inward, ensuring smooth handling.
Additionally, for shelf loading, it is recommended to limit the single-sided picking depth to no more than 7 pallet positions to avoid collisions or operational difficulties when using forklifts. The total depth of the shelves should also be reasonably controlled based on actual needs, such as keeping unidirectional shelves within 6 pallet depths and bidirectional shelves within 12 pallet depths.
The selection and arrangement of goods are also crucial. Single pallet loads should not be excessively large or heavy, typically requiring control within a specified weight range to ensure shelf stability and safety. Additionally, goods should be neatly and orderly arranged to facilitate forklift operations and inventory management.
