Description
Graphitized Petroleum Coke (GPC) is a type of carbon additive that is produced by heating high-quality petroleum coke at high temperatures in the presence of a catalyst. The process of graphitization converts the amorphous carbon in the petroleum coke into a highly ordered crystalline form of graphite, which has high purity and high carbon content.
GPC is a popular carbon additive in the production of steel and other metals. It is added to the molten metal during the casting process to increase the carbon content of the metal, which enhances its strength, hardness, and durability. GPC also helps to reduce the amount of scrap and energy required during the steelmaking process.
In addition to its use in steelmaking, GPC is also used as a carbon additive in the production of other materials such as aluminum, titanium, and silicon. It is also used as a recarburizer in the foundry industry, where it is added to the molding sand to improve the quality and strength of the castings.
