Ferro silicon is a ferroalloy composed of iron and silicon. It is widely used in the steel industry as a deoxidizer and an alloying agent. Here are some of the main applications of ferro silicon:
Steel production: Ferro silicon is added to steel during the production process to increase its strength and hardness. It is also used as a deoxidizer to remove impurities from the steel.
Cast iron production: Ferro silicon is used as an inoculant in the production of cast iron to increase its fluidity and improve its machinability.
Welding electrodes: Ferro silicon is used as a filler material in welding electrodes because of its ability to reduce the melting point of the electrode.
