Involves remelting titanium scrap and steel scrap in an induction furnace.
Produces ferrotitanium with approximately 70% titanium.
To minimize titanium loss during remelting, titanium scrap is encased in steel cylinders and compressed.
Low-melting point fluxes like barium chloride, sodium chloride, or cryolite are used to cover the molten ferrotitanium.
This method can also be used to produce various titanium composite alloys.
