A cleanroom air shower is a specialized chamber at a cleanroom's entrance that uses high-velocity, HEPA-filtered air jets to blast contaminants (dust, fibers, skin flakes) off personnel or equipment before they enter a highly controlled environment, protecting sensitive manufacturing or research from particle contamination. It acts as an airlock with dual-locking doors, running a timed cycle to dislodge particles, which are then captured and filtered by a recirculation system, preventing them from entering the cleanroom and maintaining ultra-clean conditions.
How it works
Entry: A person or item enters the small chamber, and the inner door locks.
Blowing Cycle: Nozzles in the walls and ceiling spray high-velocity, ultra-filtered air (HEPA/ULPA) onto the person/object for 20-40 seconds.
Particle Removal: The forceful air streams dislodge loose particles from clothing and surfaces.
Filtration: The "dirty" air is pulled down and away, filtered, and recirculated within the unit.
Exit: The cycle ends, the exit door unlocks, and the person/item moves into the cleanroom contamination-free.
