Appendix F to CCAR-25 — Fire Test Criteria for Aircraft Material

Product Application

The CCAR-25 Aircraft Vertical Flammability Tester is primarily used to evaluate the fire resistance of materials in aircraft cabins and cargo holds. The testing scope covers all materials exposed to passenger or crew areas. The following is the testing scope down to the individual product level (based on FAR 25.853(a) classification and Appendix F testing requirements):

Interior Ceiling Panels: Composite or fabric panels used for cabin ceiling coverings.

Interior Wall Panels: Cabin bulkhead trim panels, including sound insulation layers.

Partitions: Cabin partition walls, such as those separating business class from economy class.

Galley Structure: Galley cabinets and insulation panels.

Large Cabin Walls: Outer shell panels for overhead bins or storage compartments.

Structural Flooring: Main cabin floor panels, including the underlayment for carpets.

Overhead luggage rack materials: Plastic or composite material linings for overhead luggage racks (excluding under-seat storage).

Seat cushions and upholstery: Seat fabric, foam padding, and overlays.

Floor coverings: Cabin carpets or non-slip mats.

Decorative and non-decorative coated fabrics: Wall or seat upholstery fabrics.

Leather: Natural or synthetic leather used for seats or upholstery.

These products must pass a vertical test (flame application for 12 or 60 seconds) to ensure a burn length <203 mm, afterflame <15 seconds, and no dripping combustion.

Main Features:
