The SMC AR425 to AR935 series features an internally pilot-operated, relieving-type air pressure regulator. Within this range, the AR825, AR835, AR925, and AR935 sub-series fall into the large-bore category, offering port sizes from 1-1/4 inches up to 2 inches. These regulators are specifically designed for demanding applications such as central compressor stations, high-flow main lines, and multi-station centralized air supplies.

The pilot-operated mechanism uses the supply air itself to actuate the main valve, resulting in significantly improved outlet stability. Compared to direct-acting regulators, this design achieves a lower pressure drop at high flow conditions and greatly minimizes outlet pressure fluctuations when the inlet pressure varies, ensuring consistent performance across varying operating conditions.

This product range includes 14 distinct part numbers, encompassing 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" AR825 and AR835 models (including gauge-equipped "G" versions), 2" AR925 and AR935 models (also including "G" versions), as well as 2" X218 semi-standard special configurations. There are two types based on pressure range: a high-pressure variant (designated 25, such as AR825/AR925), which adjusts from 0.05 to 0.83 MPa, and a low-pressure precision variant (designated 35, such as AR835/AR935), adjustable from 0.02 to 0.2 MPa. This extensive range caters to both general pneumatic systems and specialized low-pressure precision applications including electronics, coating processes, and laboratory air supplies.
