Organic substances that dissolve in water often exhibit the property of absorbing ultraviolet (UV) light. This characteristic allows for the precise measurement of the concentration of these dissolved organic pollutants by assessing their absorption of UV light at a wavelength of 254 nm. The KWS-150 online COD sensor features two light sources; one is used to determine the COD levels in water through ultraviolet light, while the other serves as a reference to measure water turbidity. A tailored algorithm is also utilized to account for light path attenuation and reduce the impact of suspended particulate matter, enhancing the stability and reliability of the measurements.
