Fluorite, chemically calcium fluoride (CaF₂), is a typical halide mineral and the primary global feedstock for fluorine supply across fluorochemical, metallurgical, glass and ceramic industries. It forms endogenously from magmatic hydrothermal activity. During magma cooling, magma-separated hydrothermal fluids are rich in fluoride constituents. As these fluids migrate upward through rock fractures, gradual drops in temperature and pressure trigger a chemical reaction: fluoride ions bond with calcium ions leached from host wall rocks, precipitating and crystallizing into solid fluorite deposits.
Our enterprise owns exclusive fluorite mining bases located in Mongolia, delivering distinct superior merits compared to generic fluorite resources:
High natural initial CaF₂ grade
Mongolia ore bodies feature naturally high calcium fluoride content with fewer interbedded waste rocks, greatly cutting flotation processing costs and delivering stable high-grade raw ore at source.
Low harmful impurity profile
The Mongolian fluorite ore naturally carries minimal silica (SiO₂), iron oxide (Fe₂O₃), sulfur (S) and carbonate contaminants. Less purification treatment is required to meet acid-grade and premium metallurgical standards, yielding purer final fluorspar powder/granules.
Stable, large-scale reserve supply
Our self-operated Mongolian mines possess abundant, proven reserves with sustainable long-term mining capacity, enabling steady bulk order fulfilment without frequent quality fluctuations or supply shortages.
Convenient cross-border logistics chain
Ore is transported directly from Mongolian mining sites to Tianjin port via mature overland freight routes. Short transit cycles streamline customs clearance and reduce overall transportation costs for export shipments worldwide.
There is no unified statutory penalty formula for SiO₂ in fluorspar trading. Deduction standards are entirely determined by specific contract terms. However, common industry practice dictates that when SiO₂ exceeds an agreed threshold (e.g., 16% or 10%), a penalty of USD 3–6 per ton is applied for every 1% over the limit. The exact terms must be verified against the signed technical agreement.
Core Calculation Logic & Reference Model
Prerequisite: The penalty is triggered only when the actual measured SiO₂ content exceeds the contractually allowed upper limit ( SlimitS limitl ). No deduction applies if the limit is not breached.
Universal Deduction Formula: Deduction Amount = (Actual Measured SiO₂% − SlimitS limitl ) × K × Settled Tonnage (Note: K represents the penalty coefficient in USD per ton per 1% overage, typically negotiated between the buyer and seller.)
Impact of Particle Size: The 10-50mm specification applies to lump ore and primarily affects the base pricing rather than directly participating in the chemical penalty calculation for SiO₂. However, failure to meet the particle size requirements may trigger a separate "particle size penalty" clause.
Correlated Constraints: A CaF₂ content of ≥80% serves as the baseline requirement. If CaF₂ simultaneously falls below the contractual lower limit (e.g., a deduction of USD 9 per ton for every 1% shortfall), it is typically added to the SiO₂ deduction. In severe cases (e.g., CaF₂ <75%), the cargo may be outright rejected and returned.
Penalty Mechanism: For every 1% that SiO₂ exceeds the specified limit, a deduction of USD 4.5 per ton is applied (the common range is USD 3–6 per ton per 1%).
Calculation Demonstration: If the contract limits SiO₂ to ≤14%, but the actual measurement is 16.5% for a shipment of 100 tons, with a penalty coefficient of USD 30, the deduction is calculated as: (16.5 − 14) × 4.5 × 100 = USD 1,125.
Testing Standards: Content determination must comply with the GB/T 5195 series standards (e.g., EDTA titration or XRF methods), based on inspection reports recognized by both parties.
Key Considerations
No Default Formula: There is no mandatory penalty formula. All calculations must refer back to the specific stipulations in the procurement contract or bidding technical specifications.
Risk of Double Deduction: High SiO₂ content is frequently accompanied by low CaF₂ content. It is essential to calculate both deductions simultaneously, along with penalties for moisture and sulfur/phosphorus impurities, to prevent any miscalculations.
Dispute Resolution: If the contract does not explicitly state the upper limit for SiO₂, industry norms are usually referenced (e.g., acid-grade fluorspar generally requires SiO₂ ≤10-14%). However, this can easily lead to trade disputes. It is highly recommended to obtain written confirmation for any supplementary terms.
