Manually or Automatic Selector Valve Fire Protection Valves — 8 MPa
Selector valves are specialized components designed to control the flow of water or other fire-retardant liquids within fire protection systems. They play a critical role in the proper functioning of a fire protection system, allowing firefighters to isolate specific areas that need protection and to direct the flow of water or other fire-suppression agents precisely where required.
One side of the valve is connected to the manifold and the other side to the pipe network. The valve is normally closed and can be opened either manually or automatically. When a protected area triggers a fire alarm, the driving device discharges nitrogen gas to open the corresponding selector valve and container valve, releasing the extinguishing agent.
Manual selector valves feature a manual lever or knob that allows the user to select which area of the building to protect. These valves are typically installed outside of the protected area and are easily accessible to firefighters in the event of a fire. When activated, the valve diverts water flow to the designated area. Manual valves are preferred in smaller buildings or where automatic systems are impractical.
Automatic selector valves do not require manual activation. They are equipped with sensors or automatic detection systems that can detect the location of the fire and automatically divert water flow to the affected area. The intelligent system of these valves enables fast and reliable reaction in case of a fire, minimizing the chances of property loss and injury. Automatic valves provide a convenient and reliable way to protect a building, even in the absence of personnel.
Both types are critical components of a fire protection system and are designed to work in tandem with other components such as fire alarms and sprinkler heads.
Check the press arm of the valve regularly — it must be compacted and must not be loose or jammed. When opening the valve manually, pull the turning arm and the pressure arm together. After this action, the valve must be reset manually; otherwise, it cannot be used again.
