HFC-227ea nontoxic fire extinguishing agent
Descriptions
HFC-227ea, another name FM200, is a kind of odorless and colorless halocarbon in a gaseous state. Nowadays, it is normally used in two situations. One is used as a clean agent in fire suppression system, the other is used in pharmaceutical metered dose inhalers such as those used for dispensing asthma medication.
As a clean agent in fire suppression system, it can put out B, C types, and electrical type fires. To put out a fire, the concentration requires between 6.25% and 9% in an occupied space without mandated egress time, or up to 10.5% for a limited time, because the NOAEL level shows that FM200 agent turns to toxic when the concentration reaches 10.5%.
Because of lacking chlorine or bromine atoms, HFC-227ea agent will not hurt the ozone layer, and its ODP is 0%. Besides, its atmospheric lifetime is between 31 and 42 years.
