Sodium ions undergo ion exchange with clay particles (e.g., bentonite) in the drilling fluid, reducing clay hydration and swelling. This maintains optimal viscosity, preventing loss of cuttings-carrying capacity or excessive circulation resistance.
Wide applicability: Compatible with both water-based and oil-based drilling fluids, and maintains good solubility at low temperatures (≥0°C), suitable for various drilling environments including land and marine.
