Calcium Formate in Animal Feed
Calcium Formate can be used in feed formulations for several purposes.
1. Feed Acidification
Calcium Formate provides formate ions and can contribute to the acidification of feed and the gastrointestinal environment. This makes it particularly interesting for young animals, where maintaining appropriate digestive conditions is important.
2. Calcium Supplementation
Calcium Formate contains calcium and can therefore contribute to the overall calcium supply of a formulated diet. The calcium content is approximately 30.8% theoretically, although the actual contribution should be calculated according to the product specification and feed formulation.
3. Feed Hygiene Management
Organic acid salts such as calcium formate are used in feed formulations as part of feed hygiene management programs. They can help create conditions less favorable to the growth of certain undesirable microorganisms and are therefore sometimes incorporated into feed preservation and hygiene strategies.
4. Support for Digestive Conditions
