Calcium formate is a versatile feed additive, functioning as both an acidifier and a high-quality calcium source due to its formate component. It appears as a white, odorless crystalline powder or granules, with customizable particle size. Highly soluble in water (about 16.8g/100mL at 20°C), it is insoluble in ethanol. The compound is stable and resistant to moisture and high temperatures, decomposing into calcium carbonate and formic acid only at temperatures above 300°C, without releasing toxic gases. Non-irritating and non-corrosive, calcium formate can be used as an acidifier, mold preventive, and antibacterial agent in various animal feeds.
