Aluminium alloy cables are a new type of power cable that utilises AA8030 series aluminium alloy as the conductor, employing advanced technologies such as a special roll-forming process for stranding and annealing treatment.
Alloy power cables address the shortcomings of traditional pure aluminium cables. Whilst they do not enhance the cable’s electrical conductivity, they significantly improve flexibility, creep resistance and corrosion resistance, ensuring the cable maintains stable performance even under prolonged overloading and overheating. The use of AA-8030 series aluminium alloy conductors substantially increases the cable’s electrical conductivity and high-temperature resistance, whilst simultaneously resolving issues associated with pure aluminium conductors, such as creep. The electrical conductivity of aluminium alloy is 61.8% of that of copper (IACS), the most commonly used reference material, and its current-carrying capacity is 79% of that of copper, outperforming pure aluminium standards. However, for the same volume, the actual weight of aluminium alloy is approximately one-third that of copper.
Consequently, aluminium alloy cables weigh approximately half as much as copper cables for the same current-carrying capacity. Replacing copper cables with aluminium alloy cables reduces cable weight, lowers installation costs, minimises wear and tear on equipment and cables, and makes installation work easier.

1. Corrosion Resistance
By adding elements such as rare earths to the aluminium alloy, its corrosion resistance is superior to that of pure aluminium, particularly enhancing its resistance to electrochemical corrosion and completely resolving the issue of corrosion-prone joints in pure aluminium cables.
2. Mechanical Properties
Strength and Elongation: Optimised formulations and processes have significantly increased tensile strength, with elongation reaching 30%, ensuring safer use.
Bending Performance: The minimum bending radius is just 7 times the cable’s outer diameter, far exceeding the national standard requirement of 10–20 times, making it easy to install and resistant to breakage.
Flexibility: It can withstand repeated bending and twisting without cracking or breaking, thereby avoiding the issues of damage during installation and the associated safety hazards associated with pure aluminium cables.
3. Electrical Conductivity
By incorporating elements such as rare earths, magnesium and copper into the aluminium alloy, and through specialised process control, the electrical conductivity and current-carrying capacity are comparable to those of pure aluminium, ensuring no compromise in power transmission performance.
4. Creep Resistance
The aluminium alloy exhibits three times the creep resistance of pure aluminium. This reduces joint loosening caused by thermal expansion and contraction, minimises the risk of overheating due to contact resistance, and ensures more stable and durable connections.
