German Style stick Umbrella with Integrated Handle and Shaft
This is a custom-made wooden-shaft umbrella designed for a German client. It features a manual opening mechanism and follows the style of a classic European urban stick umbrella, complete with a traditional curved handle.
Unlike many Asian-style umbrellas—where the shaft and handle are separate components—this umbrella is crafted from a single piece of maple wood. This integrated construction enhances the umbrella's overall durability, though it demands a higher standard of craftsmanship and the use of high-density timber. The top of the shaft is capped with copper, which protects the wood and prevents it from cracking over time, even when exposed to the elements.
The frame is constructed from 0.4mm-thick recyclable steel. At the joints where the long and short ribs connect, the rivets are wrapped in fabric to prevent any potential rust from staining the canopy.
The canopy features a gray exterior and a silver interior, providing both sun protection and waterproofing. Traditional umbrellas remain timeless; they represent a classic aesthetic—proof that truly excellent designs never go out of style.
