A1: If you purchased Zigbee version motors, YES, this gateway is required. Without it, the motors cannot connect to the App or the Internet. If you bought WiFi motors, you do not need this.
Q2: How many motors can one gateway control?
A2: While it theoretically supports up to 128 devices, we recommend connecting 30-50 devices per gateway for the fastest response speed. This is usually enough for a whole house of curtains.
Q3: What is the range?
A3: The gateway covers about 10-15 meters in open space. However, because Zigbee devices act as a "Mesh Network" (each wired motor acts as a signal repeater), the signal extends further with every device you add.
Q4: Does it work if my internet cuts out?
A4: Yes! Local automation (e.g., a wireless switch controlling a curtain) will still work even if the external internet connection is lost, as long as the WiFi router is powered on.
Q5: Can I connect Bluetooth lights to this too?
A5: Yes, since it is a Multi-Mode gateway, it can control Tuya Bluetooth Mesh lights and Zigbee curtains simultaneously.
