How strong is checker plate?
If installed and supported properly, checker plate is capable of taking heavy loads. Thicker sheets are recommended but even this is easy and cost-effective to come across. 3mm, 4mm, 4.5mm and even 6mm tread plate are available for use in these industrial settings.
Is checker plate slippery?
For many years chequer plate and similar metal profiled materials have been used as an anti-slip surface. Experience tells us however that in wet, oily and greasy conditions these surfaces can represent a serious slip risk. Even in the dry these surfaces can become a slip risk depending on the footwear being worn.
What is the difference between diamond plate and checkered plate?
There is really no difference between diamond plate, tread plate, and checker plate other than the name. For the most part, these names can be used interchangeably. All three names refer to the same shape of metal material.
How is chequer plate made?
Hot rolling is usually used to make steel checker plates. In this method, pairs of rollers gradually compress a block of hot metal until it achieves the desired thickness. A diamond pattern is created using a roller with a raised pattern towards the end of this process while the metal is still hot.
