Steel Bar Grating Trench Covers / Drain Covers

Steel grating trench covers are used in sidewalks, driveways, courtyards or the ground of buildings as cover plates for gutters, pipeline trenches, underground passages, air shafts, light wells, inspection wells or shafts and so on.
The steel grating trench cover usually consists of a fixed frame and a movable steel grating panels as the cover plate. The steel grating trench cover can be equipped with fasteners or anti-theft devices.
1. Type GT Steel Grating Trench Covers for General Wayside and Traverse Trenches
From the perspective of the movement direction of vehicles, steel grating trench covers on the driveways can be divided into wayside trench covers and traverse trench covers. Steel grating trench covers whose bearing bars are perpendicular to the movement direction of vehicles are called wayside trench covers. Steel grating trench covers whose bearing bars are parallel to the movement direction of vehicles are called traverse trench covers.

Type GT steel grating trench covers are suitable for roads (except for public highways) where the traffic is not heavy. In the case of the traverse trench cover, the risk of the cover plate jumping up needs to be considered, and the traverse trench cover should be fixed with bolts. For corrosion resistance purposes, steel grating trench covers should be hot dip galvanized.

The Type GT steel grating trench cover is suitable for used on a T-shaped ditch, where recessed edges are available for supporting the cover. Usually, the recessed edges are protected with angle steel bars.

In Table Type GT Steel Grating Trench Covers for General Wayside and Traverse Trenches, the symbols "T-2, T-6, T-14, T-20 or T-25" respectively mean that a vehicle with the gross weight of 2MT, 6MT, 14MT, 20MT or 25MT is allowed to pass through.

As a rule, the model GXXX/30/100 steel gratings are preferred, other models can also be used. For steel grating trench covers in public places, it is preferrable to use the models with the cross bar spacing of 50mm. Whether or not to adopt steel grating trench covers with serrated flat bars or I-shaped flat bars should be agreed upon by the supplier and the buyer.

2. Type GU Steel Grating Trench Covers for U-Shaped Trenches

For most ordinary concrete built trenches without recessed edges, the use of a U-shaped trench cover is very simple and economical, and there is no need for the trench to have specially shaped edge openings.
In the case of the vehicular load T-6 or T-14, it is recommended to bury angle steel along the upper edges of the trench, and meanwhile prefabricated building blocks exclusively for the U-shaped trench can also be used to construct the trench, and this way can effectively prevent the infiltration of sewage into the earth. Type GU Steel Grating Trench Covers are also suitable for use on prefabricated U-shaped trenches of this type.

When the passage of vehicles is needed, Type GU steel grating trench covers for U-shaped trenches are only suitable for use on the wayside trenches.

3. Type GM Steel Grating Covers for Manholes

Type GM steel grating covers can serve as the plates to cover boreholes or manholes of rainwater wells, sand sediment traps, sewage wells, wastewater wells and water supply and drainage wells, which wells or traps act as municipal facilities in roads or parks. The Type GM steel grating cover for manholes can generally be designed to function as a flip-up plate hinged, which is capable of being flipped upwards 110 degrees at most. The steel grating cover with hinge pins are not only burglar-proof but also simplifies the construction process.

In order to improve impact resistance, the Type GM steel grating cover for manholes is generally manufactured with steel grating panels whose cross bar spacing should be 50mm.
