Compact FTIR Gas Analysis Portable Model Monitor More Than 10 Gases

 

Compact Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) gas analysis refers to the use of portable or smaller-sized FTIR spectrometers for the analysis of gases. Compact FTIR gas analyzers typically consist of the following components:


1. Light source: The instrument employs an infrared light source, usually a broadband source such as a Globar, to emit infrared radiation across a wide spectral range.


2. Interferometer: A compact interferometer, such as a micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) interferometer, is used to modulate the infrared light. The interferometer splits the incident light into two beams, which travel different paths before recombining.


3. Sample cell: The gas sample to be analyzed is introduced into a sample cell or gas chamber. The cell is designed to ensure the interaction of the gas with the infrared light, allowing for the measurement of the absorption spectrum.


4. Detector: The recombined light from the interferometer passes through the sample cell and falls onto a detector, typically a photoconductive or photovoltaic detector. The detector converts the light intensity into an electrical signal.


5. Data processing: The electrical signal from the detector is processed using Fourier transform techniques to obtain the absorption spectrum of the gas sample. The resulting spectrum is then analyzed to identify and quantify the gas components present.


Compact FTIR gas analyzers often feature user-friendly interfaces and may offer wireless connectivity, data logging capabilities, and real-time monitoring. They are designed to provide rapid, reliable, and non-destructive analysis of gas samples in various environments.


These instruments are widely used in applications such as environmental monitoring to measure air quality, detecting pollutants and hazardous gases, industrial process control to monitor emissions and optimize production, and safety applications, including leak detection and confined space monitoring.


It's important to note that while compact FTIR gas analyzers offer portability and convenience, they may have limitations compared to their larger counterparts in terms of spectral resolution, sensitivity, and the ability to analyze complex mixtures. However, they provide a valuable tool for on-site gas analysis where portability and real-time measurements are crucial.
