The ZJ Series Roots vacuum pump is a positive-displacement mechanical booster pump without internal compression. Its core working principle relies on a pair of conjugate figure-"8" shaped lobes (rotors) rotating synchronously at high speed in opposite directions within the pump chamber. The rotors maintain very close clearances with each other and the pump housing without making contact. As the rotors continuously turn, gas is trapped from the inlet and forcibly transported to the outlet, achieving pumping and boosting. Since it lacks inherent compression capability, it cannot be used alone and must be operated in series with a backing pump (such as a rotary vane pump, screw pump, or liquid ring pump). It achieves maximum pumping efficiency in the medium-pressure range.
"ZJ" is the standard Chinese designation for Roots vacuum pumps (Z for "Zhen" Kong - Vacuum, J for "Ji" Xie - Mechanical boosting).
High Pumping Speed and Efficiency: Provides very high pumping speeds in the medium vacuum range (1~100 Pa), significantly reducing pump-down time and improving efficiency.
Non-Contact Rotors, No Wear: The rotors do not contact each other or the housing, requiring no lubrication, resulting in minimal wear and a long service life.
Clean and Contamination-Free: No working fluid in the pumping chamber, making it ideal for obtaining clean vacuum without contaminating the process or product.
Quick Start-Up, Relatively Low Energy Consumption: High dynamic balancing of rotors allows for quick start-up. Energy consumption is relatively low for its pumping speed when operating under rated conditions.
Compact Structure, Simple Maintenance: Features a compact design. Regular replacement of bearings and seals constitutes the main maintenance, which is relatively straightforward.
As the most commonly used mechanical booster pump, the ZJ Series is widely applied in various industrial fields that require high pumping speeds and medium to high vacuum.
