Why It Works

Field equipment and outdoor instrumentation represent some of the most challenging environments for electronic display components because the combination of temperature variation, ambient light range, and mechanical stress is broader and more severe than almost any other application category. A display in a water quality monitoring station in a remote location must operate reliably in direct summer sun at 40 degrees Celsius and in freezing winter conditions, it must be readable in bright sunlight and in the darkness of a 4am field reading, and it must survive the mechanical shock and vibration of being deployed in a field environment without developing electrical connection failures.
