1. Brief Description

A recuperative glass melting furnace is an energy‑saving industrial thermal equipment equipped with a dedicated recuperative heat exchanger. It reclaims waste heat from furnace flue gas to pre‑heat combustion air, effectively cutting fuel consumption and improving overall thermal efficiency for glass production.

2. Function and Design

The recuperative furnace relies on a tubular recuperator (heat exchanger) to capture residual heat from high‑temperature exhaust flue gas. Recovered heat pre‑heats incoming combustion air before it enters the burner system. No regenerator chambers or reversing valves are required.

Main components:

  • Tubular Recuperator (Heat Exchanger):Adopts concentric double‑pipe structure. Hot flue gas flows through the outer passage while cold combustion air passes through the inner passage. Heat transfers across the pipe wall without direct mixing of flue gas and combustion air.
  • Combustion System:Pre‑heated combustion air mixes with fuel inside burners to realize stable, high‑efficiency combustion, achieving the 1400‑1600 °C working temperature required for glass melting.

  • Air‑Fuel Inlet:Pre‑heated combustion air and fuel are delivered to burners for mixing and combustion.
5. Furnace Melting Process System

Well‑configured melting process parameters guarantee stable daily production, and play a critical role in output capacity, finished‑glass quality, energy saving and overall furnace service life.Key process parameters include furnace temperature, furnace pressure, bubbling system, molten glass level and fuel supply.

Temperature monitoring focuses primarily on melting‑tank temperature, with gradient temperature distribution along the furnace length.

  • Molten glass temperature

Precise temperature control is essential. It directly influences melting rate, molten‑glass convection, forming conditions, fuel combustion status and furnace campaign life.

Negative furnace pressure will draw cold air into the flame space, disturbing internal thermal conditions, dropping operating temperature, raising energy consumption and creating uneven temperature distribution.
Excessively positive pressure is also harmful: it increases energy loss, shortens refractory lining service life and impairs glass fining and cooling performance.
