Technical Insight
Does darker window tint always mean better heat rejection?
No – VLT darkness and heat rejection are separate performance characteristics. A very dark film with low IRR performance can still allow significant heat transfer through the infrared spectrum, which accounts for most solar heat gain. Conversely, a moderately tinted film with high IRR performance can reject more heat than a darker film with poor IRR. The BS35-15 photochromic film is engineered to deliver 98.3% IRR – among the highest available in automotive window film – while also offering the visual privacy of 15% VLT under UV activation.
