LLDPE , short for linear low-density polyethylene, is a type of polyethylene derived by incorporating short branched chains into HDPE. This unique structure allows LLDPE to exhibit a blend of low-density polyethylene's flexibility and high-density polyethylene's strength. The key attributes of LLDPE include high toughness, ease of processing, and resistance to low temperatures .
HDPE exhibits extremely strong toughness, surpassing LDPE in terms of impact resistance and puncture resistance. For instance, plastic bags made from HDPE can withstand heavy objects without easily breaking. HDPE is resistant to acids, alkalis, and organic solvents. It also provides a good barrier against water and water vapor. Furthermore, HDPE offers excellent electrical insulation properties, making it suitable for use as an insulation layer for wires and cables.
