Polypropylene (PP) is a semi crystalline thermoplastic polymer created by polymerization reaction of propylene monomer. The chemical formula of polypropylene is (C3H6)ₙ, and it boasts a density ranging from 0.89 to 0.92 g/cm³, making it one of the thermoplastic resins with the lowest density.
Polypropylene has a melting point range of 164 to 176°C and can be used within an operating temperature range of -30 to 140°C. It is known for its lightweight nature, exceptional wear resistance, and impressive resistance to chemical corrosion.
It is a white waxy solid, non-toxic and odorless, with a transparent appearance and lightweight texture. Excellent fatigue resistance, suitable for applications with repeated bending or twisting, with a water absorption rate of only 0.01% and excellent water stability.
Acid, alkali, alcohol and other corrosive substances, but weak tolerance to aromatic solvents (such as benzene). Good biocompatibility, in line with medical material safety standards.
It can be formed through extrusion, injection molding, blow molding and other processes, with a shrinkage rate of 1.8% to 2.5% (reduced to 0.7% by adding glass fiber). Easy to dye, but attention should be paid to the possible precipitation of small molecule substances at high temperatures.
