A: Because both vehicle types use the NEF (New Engine Family) / Tector engine platform, developed by FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technologies). Whether it is a 4.5L 4-cylinder or a 6.7L 6-cylinder engine, they share the same common rail architecture, cylinder head design, and injection parameters controlled by this specific injector.
Q: Do I need to code this injector after installation?
A: Unlike passenger car injectors, many older versions of the Ive-co Tector/NEF engines using this specific CRIN2 generation injector do not require individual IMA coding. However, if your vehicle’s specific ECU generation requires a 7-character IMA code, it will be laser-etched directly on the top magnet plastic cap of the injector. Always check with your diagnostic tool during installation.
Q: What are the primary signs that these injectors are failing?
A: Heavy commercial and agricultural equipment run under constant high loads, meaning injector wear usually manifests in these ways:
Excessive Fuel Return (The "No Start" Issue): Wear on the internal ball valve causes too much high-pressure fuel to bypass back to the tank. The engine will crank normally but fail to start, especially when the engine is hot, because the high-pressure pump can't reach the target starting pressure (around 250 bar).
Engine Hunting or Heavy Vibrations: An imbalance in fuel delivery across cylinders makes the engine sound "rough" or unstable at idle.
White Exhaust Smoke under Load: This indicates poor atomization or a dripping nozzle needle, meaning raw, unburnt diesel is entering the exhaust stream.
Q: What is the "Side Feed" or Inlet Connector tube rule for this injector?
A: This is the most critical mistake mechanics make. The 0445120079 injector is fed fuel from the side of the cylinder head via a high-pressure inlet connector tube (feeding bow).
Crucial Rule: When replacing the injector, you should always replace the inlet connector tube at the same time. A worn connector tube will leak fuel inside the cylinder head, diluting your engine oil with diesel and potentially destroying the entire engine.
Q: What is the torque specification for this injector?
A: Always follow the factory FPT/Ive-co manual, but standard practice for this injector clamp requires tightening the retaining bracket bolt to around 26-30 Nm (verify your exact engine series manual). Over-tightening will distort the injector body, causing the internal needle to stick and fail immediately.
