NiCr-CuNi Type E Thermocouple Wire is a highly accurate thermocouple material known for its excellent thermoelectric properties and high sensitivity. It consists of a positive leg made of Nickel-Chromium alloy (NiCr) and a negative leg made of Copper-Nickel alloy (CuNi), also known as Constantan. Type E thermocouples are ideal for applications requiring precise temperature measurements in a wide range of environments.

 

NiCr-CuNi Type E (Constantan) Thermocouple Wire is a highly sensitive and accurate thermocouple material suitable for cryogenic and moderate high-temperature applications. Its superior thermoelectric output, non-magnetic nature, and excellent performance in clean environments make it ideal for precise temperature measurement in scientific, industrial, and medical applications.

Key Features of NiCr-CuNi (Type E) Thermocouple Wire:

  • High Sensitivity

Produces the highest thermoelectric output (Seebeck coefficient) of all standard thermocouple types, approximately 68 µV/°C, making it highly sensitive to temperature changes.

  • Wide Temperature Range

Operates effectively in temperatures from -270°C to 870°C (-454°F to 1600°F).

Particularly effective for cryogenic and moderate high-temperature applications.

  • Excellent Accuracy

Provides precise temperature readings with standard tolerances of ±1.7°C or ±0.5% of the measured temperature.

  • Good Corrosion Resistance

Resistant to oxidation in clean and dry environments, but not suitable for reducing or sulfurous atmospheres.

The Constantan (CuNi) leg provides stability in various conditions.

  • Material Composition

Positive Leg (NiCr): Typically 90% Nickel and 10% Chromium.

Negative Leg (CuNi/Constantan): Typically 55% Copper and 45% Nickel.
