2,4-D is one of the most widely used selective herbicides for controlling susceptible broadleaf plants in agricultural, turf, pasture and non-crop systems.

2,4-D is a systemic phenoxy herbicide designed mainly for the management of susceptible broadleaf species. It is available commercially in different chemical forms including amine salts, choline salts, esters, and acid formulations.
2,4-D acts as an auxin mimic, disrupting normal auxin-regulated development and leading to abnormal tissue growth and eventual plant death.
Typical symptoms in susceptible plants include:
2,4-D is primarily used for broadleaf control while many grasses are more tolerant when applied at registered rates and crop stages.
Apply when susceptible broadleaf plants are young, actively growing, and not under severe stress.
Grass crops may tolerate 2,4-D well at certain stages but become more sensitive during reproductive growth periods. Always follow label specifications for application timing.
Although systemic, good coverage remains necessary for optimal performance. Poor coverage may cause reduced absorption, uneven treatment, and partial suppression.
