The electromagnet for the Leonardo machine clutch is a critical component in the picking/finding clutch system of Vamatex Leonardo rapier looms. This electromagnetic clutch operates based on the principle of electromagnetism, where electrical energy is converted into magnetic force to achieve mechanical movement for engaging and disengaging power transmission .
When energized, the electromagnetic coil generates a magnetic field that attracts the armature plate, engaging the clutch to transmit torque from the driving shaft to the driven shaft. This provides clean, efficient, and fast-response operation with engagement times typically in the range of 30-100 milliseconds .
When selecting or replacing the electromagnet:
The electromagnet is part of a complete clutch assembly (part 0446001)
, so if you're experiencing issues, you may need to inspect the entire clutch system including the armature plate, friction discs, and associated mechanical components.
