Application Scenarios
FAQ Question 1: No valid echo waveform displayed on screen Customer: After turning on the MY‑133 unit and connecting the probe, only noise signals appear on the A‑scan screen, no stable workpiece echo can be observed. What may cause this problem? Manufacturer: This situation frequently occurs during on‑site NDT testing, please perform step‑by‑step troubleshooting. First, check whether the probe cable is firmly plugged in, confirm no loose or broken connector. Second, verify that sufficient coupling agent is applied between probe and workpiece surface; dry contact will lead to signal loss. In addition, check instrument parameters: ensure gain value is not set too low, and sound velocity matches the test material. If above operations cannot solve the problem, please contact us promptly, do not disassemble the device by yourself. Question 2: Measured thickness and defect depth data are obviously inaccurate Customer: The instrument can display echo waveform normally, but the reading of defect depth and workpiece thickness deviates greatly from actual value. How to resolve this issue? Manufacturer: This fault is usually caused by incorrect parameter configuration or poor coupling condition. Please take the following measures: First, re‑calibrate sound velocity according to the actual test material; wrong velocity setting is the main reason for measuring deviation. Second, complete probe zero‑offset calibration with reference test block. Third, check the workpiece surface condition; rough, rusty or uneven surface will affect coupling effect and cause measuring error. If the probe itself is worn severely, replace with a new probe for re‑testing. Question 3: Device auto‑shuts down or screen freezes during long‑time field work Customer: When performing continuous outdoor inspection, the ultrasonic flaw detector screen becomes frozen, or the device powers off automatically. Is the main‑board damaged? Manufacturer: Do not worry. In most cases it belongs to protection trigger rather than hardware damage. Low battery voltage or high‑temperature working environment may cause system halt or automatic power‑off. Recommended handling steps: Turn off the instrument, fully charge the battery, avoid direct sunlight and high‑temperature environment. Restart the device and restore factory settings if screen is frozen. Do not run the device under continuous high‑temperature exposure. If malfunction still exists after charging and restarting, please contact technical support, do not open the housing privately. Question 4: Frequent waveform jumping and signal drifting during detection Customer: During on‑site metal inspection, the A‑scan waveform jumps randomly, echo signal drifts constantly and cannot get stable testing result. Is there any way to improve this condition? Manufacturer: There are three main reasons for unstable waveform: unstable power supply, strong surrounding electromagnetic interference, and poor probe‑workpiece coupling. It is recommended to use fully‑charged battery power for field test, avoid sharing power supply with other large‑size industrial equipment. Keep the instrument away from high‑current equipment and welding interference sources. Maintain vertical and stable contact between probe and workpiece, keep adequate coupling gel. If signal still drifts after adjustment, please provide on‑site working condition description, we will arrange technical personnel for remote guidance. Question 5: Precautions for Transportation, Handling and Testing Operation Customer: This MY‑133 ultrasonic flaw detector is handheld precision NDT instrument.
