Question 1: No Pressure Build-Up During Calibration
Customer: We have connected the calibrator to the on-site SF6 density relay and started the calibration program, but the panel pressure gauge stays at zero and no pressure builds up, making it impossible to complete the test. What may cause this issue?
Manufacturer: This is a common on-site issue mostly related to gas circuit connections. We recommend troubleshooting step by step: first, check the standard SF6 gas supply, confirm the cylinder valve is fully open and the residual gas pressure is sufficient for the test; second, inspect all gas connectors on the inlet, measurement and outlet ports, make sure each fitting is tightly screwed and the built-in sealing ring is not damaged or dislodged; third, check if the pressure adjustment knob is fully closed, slowly turn it to increase pressure and observe the gauge reading; additionally, briefly open the vent valve to check for gas outflow, which can rule out internal gas path blockage. If none of the above steps resolve the issue, please contact us promptly and do not disassemble the device on your own.
Question 2: No Relay Action Signal Detected
Customer: During automatic calibration, the gas pressure has reached the nominal alarm value of the relay, but the device fails to capture any action signal and the calibration process runs continuously without stopping. How do we troubleshoot this?
Manufacturer: This issue usually stems from signal circuit connection errors or parameter mismatches. Please follow the steps below to inspect: first, verify the signal wiring between the calibrator and the relay auxiliary contacts, and confirm you have selected the correct normally open / normally closed contact type matching the relay; second, use a multimeter in continuity mode to test the relay auxiliary contacts, check if the contact switches normally with pressure changes, and clean oxidized contact surfaces if necessary; third, enter the device settings to confirm the signal acquisition mode matches the on-site wiring scheme. If the fault persists after inspection, please contact our technical support for further guidance.
Question 3: Poor Repeatability of Calibration Results
Customer: When we calibrate the same density relay twice in succession, the measured alarm and locking pressure values show obvious deviation, and the data repeatability is poor. What leads to this instability?
Manufacturer: Inconsistent calibration results are usually affected by environmental conditions, air tightness or operation habits. Please check the following aspects: first, ensure the ambient temperature is stable during the test, as temperature fluctuations directly affect SF6 gas density conversion; it is recommended to let the relay and calibrator acclimatize at the test site for 30 minutes before formal testing; second, perform a pressure-holding test to check for micro-leaks in the gas circuit: if the pressure drops significantly within 5 minutes, re-tighten all connectors and replace worn sealing rings; third, slow down the pressure adjustment speed, as excessively fast pressurization or depressurization will cause data acquisition lag and reading deviation. For long-term use, we also recommend periodic verification of the device with a standard pressure gauge to maintain its accuracy.
Question 4: Built-in Printer Does Not Print Test Reports
Customer: After the calibration is completed, we press the print button but the built-in thermal printer does not respond, and no test report is output. How can we solve this problem?
Manufacturer: Printing failures are mostly caused by paper loading issues or temporary program glitches. Please check in this order: first, open the printer compartment to confirm the thermal paper roll is loaded correctly with the heat-sensitive side facing up, and there is no paper jam inside; second, check if the paper roll is exhausted, and replace it with a new standard thermal paper roll if needed; third, restart the device to rule out temporary program freezing, and try printing again after re-entering the result page. Do not pull the paper forcibly during printing, as this may damage the print head. If the printer still fails to work, please contact us for replacement parts or maintenance service.
