Stainless Steel Wedge Wire Screen

Stainless steel wedge wire screen is a reusable filtration and separation screen made of shaped stainless steel wires welded onto support rods. The narrow and uniform slots allow liquid to pass through while retaining larger particles, impurities or solid materials.

This type of screen is commonly used where ordinary filter mesh is too weak, clogs easily or needs to be replaced frequently. The stainless steel structure provides high mechanical strength, good corrosion resistance and a long service life. Slot size, dimensions and stainless steel grade can be customized according to the actual filtration process.

Where Is a Wedge Wire Screen Used?

Wedge wire screens are mainly used for separating solids from liquids or preventing larger particles from entering downstream equipment. In simple terms, they work as a strong stainless steel “screen” installed wherever a process needs to let water or liquid pass while stopping unwanted particles.

In water treatment systems, the screen can be installed before pumps, pipelines, filters or other treatment equipment. It removes sand, suspended solids, plant debris and other larger contaminants, helping protect downstream equipment from blockage and damage.

In wastewater treatment, wedge wire screens are used to separate solid particles, fibers and debris from wastewater. They are suitable for applications where the screen needs to be cleaned repeatedly instead of being replaced after use.

In food and beverage production, stainless steel wedge wire screens can be used for water filtration, raw material screening, liquid-solid separation and process protection. SS316L is commonly selected when better corrosion resistance and hygienic performance are required.

In chemical and industrial processing, the screen can be installed inside tanks, vessels, separators or filtration equipment to retain catalyst particles, resin beads, carbon particles or other process materials while allowing the process liquid to flow through.

In mining, pulp and paper and other industries with high solid content, wedge wire screens are also used for screening, dewatering and recovering solid materials from process liquids.

Why Use Stainless Steel Wedge Wire Screen?

Compared with ordinary woven wire mesh, wedge wire screens have a rigid welded structure and can withstand heavier loads and repeated cleaning. The continuous slot design provides a large open area, helping maintain stable flow while reducing pressure loss.

The smooth screen surface also makes cleaning easier. Depending on the application, the screen can be cleaned by water flushing, backwashing, air cleaning or mechanical cleaning, allowing it to be reused for a long period.
