Energy recovery ventilation (ERV) is the process of exchanging energy contained in exhausted building air to precondition incoming outdoor ventilation air in residential and commercial HVAC systems. During warmer seasons, the system pre-cools and dehumidifies, while in cooler seasons it humidifies and pre-heats.
