The characteristics of pure cotton fabrics are :
1. Hygroscopicity: Cotton fiber has good hygroscopicity, under normal circumstances, the fiber can absorb moisture into the surrounding atmosphere, its moisture content is 8-10%, so it touches the human skin, making people feel soft and not rigid. If the humidity of cotton cloth increases, the surrounding temperature is higher, the water content in the fiber will evaporate completely, so that the fabric maintains a water balance, making people feel comfortable.
2. Moisture retention: because cotton fiber is a poor conductor of heat and electricity, the thermal conductivity is very low, and because cotton fiber itself has the advantages of porosity, high elasticity, between the fibers can accumulate a large amount of air, air is a bad conductor of heat and electricity, so, cotton fiber textiles have good moisture retention, wearing cotton clothing. It makes people feel warm.
3. Heat Resistance: Pure cotton fabric has good heat resistance. When the temperature is below 110 C, it will only cause moisture evaporation on the fabric and will not damage the fiber. Therefore, the use of pure cotton fabric at room temperature, washing, printing and dyeing have no effect on the fabric, thus improving the washing and wear resistance of pure cotton fabric.
4. Resistance to alkali: Cotton fibers have a greater resistance to alkali, cotton fibers in alkaline solution, fiber does not destroy the phenomenon, this performance is conducive to the washing of pollution, disinfection and removal of impurities, but also can be used for cotton textiles dyeing, printing and various processing, to produce more cotton varieties.
5. Hygiene: Cotton fiber is a natural fiber, its main component is cellulose, there are a small amount of waxy substances and nitrogen-containing substances and pectin. Pure cotton fabrics have been tested and practiced in many ways. The contact between the fabrics and the skin has no stimulation or negative effect. Long-term use of the fabrics is beneficial and harmless to the human body and has good hygienic properties.
