Q: Is the JIS shank the same as the DIN shank?
A: No. JIS taps usually have a larger shank diameter for smaller sizes compared to DIN. For example, a JIS M6 tap has a 6.0mm shank, while a DIN 371 M6 also has 6.0mm, but the square (K) and total length differ. Always check the holder compatibility.
