Professional Note from our Engineers: > * JIS taps are generally shorter and more rigid, ideal for the high-speed, compact spindles found on Japanese CNC machines (Fanuc, Brother, Mazak).
Shank Diameter: Notice that for M3/M4, JIS shanks are thicker than DIN, whereas for M8/M10, JIS shanks are significantly thinner. Using a DIN collet for a JIS tap without checking these dimensions will result in a loose fit or tool runout.

Q: Can I use your JIS taps on my European machine?
A: Yes, provided you use a JIS-standard collet. The tap will perform excellently, but because the shank and square dimensions differ from DIN, the clamping system must match the JIS specification.
