Q: Why does the DIN 2181 set only have 2 pieces, while DIN 352 has 3?
A: DIN 2181 is for Metric Fine (MF) threads. Because fine threads have a smaller pitch and remove less material per rotation than coarse threads, the tapping process is less strenuous. Therefore, a 2-piece set (Taper & Bottoming) is sufficient for a high-quality finish.
Q: Can I use these taps in a CNC machine?
A: While these are high-quality HSS-M2 taps, they are specifically designed as Hand Taps with a straight flute. For high-speed CNC through-hole applications, we recommend our DIN 374 Spiral Point series.
Q: What is the correct tapping drill size for M12 x 1.5?
A: For Metric Fine threads, use the formula: Nominal Diameter - Pitch. For M12 x 1.5, the correct drill bit is 10.5 mm.
