Our DIN 371/376 HSS-E M35 TiCN Coated Spiral Flute Taps are engineered for the most demanding blind-hole tapping environments. By combining a 5% Cobalt (M35) substrate with an advanced Titanium Carbo-Nitride (TiCN) physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating, these taps achieve a superior balance of toughness and extreme surface hardness.
The 35° spiral flute geometry is optimized to mechanically lift chips out of blind holes, while the TiCN coating provides a harder, more abrasive-resistant surface than standard TiN, making it the definitive choice for tapping high-tensile steels and abrasive castings.

Extreme Surface Hardness (approx 3000 HV): TiCN is significantly harder than TiN (2300 HV). This extra hardness is essential for resisting abrasive wear when tapping high-alloy steels and reinforced materials.
Low Friction & High Lubricity: The carbon content in TiCN provides a lower coefficient of friction than TiN, which reduces torque during the cutting process and prevents material adhesion (galling).

Q: When should I recommend TiCN over TiN coating?
A: Recommend TiCN for harder materials (steel > 800 N/mm²) or highly abrasive materials. It offers better wear resistance and a longer tool life in tougher alloys compared to TiN.
Q: Why use the DIN 371 Reinforced Shank for small sizes?
A: Small taps (M2-M10) face high torsional stress. The Reinforced Shank of DIN 371 provides the necessary rigidity to prevent "twisting" and snapping during high-speed automated cycles.
