On-site metal drilling is often a battle against time and tool fatigue. Using standard twist drills for large-scale steel projects is inherently inefficient—they require massive pressure, generate destructive heat, and frequently lead to motor burnout on magnetic drills. For project managers, every snapped drill bit or stalled machine represents a direct hit to the project's bottom line and deadline.
Solid twist drills must convert the entire center of a hole into metal chips. This "total material removal" requires immense torque and creates a massive friction surface. This friction quickly dulls the cutting edges and creates a "dead-zone" at the center of the hole where the drill rubs rather than cuts. The resulting vibration leads to inaccurate hole positioning and rough, burred edges that require secondary finishing.
Our HSS-M2 Annular Cutters solve these issues by only cutting the periphery of the hole. This hollow design removes only a thin ring of material, reducing the cutting load by over 60%. Combined with our precision-ground Pilot Pins (shown in the image), the system ensures perfect centering, optimized coolant flow, and automatic slug ejection. The result is a clean, burr-free hole in 1/3 of the time required by traditional methods.

Choose the Right Depth: Always select a cutter depth at least 5mm deeper than your material thickness to ensure the slug can be ejected safely.
The Pilot Pin Advantage: Never drill without a pilot pin. It acts as the center-point for positioning and triggers the automatic ejection of the center core (slug).
Coolant is Key: Use internal lubrication to flush out chips and keep the HSS-M2 edge sharp for hundreds of holes.
Q: Can these cutters be used in a standard drill press?
A: They are optimized for Magnetic Drills. However, they can be used in a standard drill press if you use a Weldon-to-Morse Taper (MT) adapter or a specialized arbor.
Q: Why do I need two different pilot pins in the kit?
A: Different cutter diameters and depths require specific pin lengths and diameters to properly engage the slug ejection spring and control coolant flow.
Q: Can I re-sharpen these HSS cutters?
A: Yes. Because we use fully ground HSS-M2, these cutters can be professionally re-sharpened 5–10 times, significantly lowering your total consumable costs.
