A: Although HSS can handle higher speeds, this set is designed for Manual Hand Threading. Machine tapping requires different flute geometries (like spiral flutes) to handle continuous chip evacuation.
Q: Is cutting oil required for HSS tools?
A: Absolutely. Even with HSS, using a high-quality cutting oil reduces friction and heat buildup, ensuring a much cleaner thread finish and significantly prolonging the tool's life.
Q: How do I distinguish between the Taper, Intermediate, and Bottoming taps?
A: You can identify them by the "chamfer" (the number of tapered threads at the tip). The Taper tap has 6-8 chamfered threads, the Intermediate has 3-5, and the Bottoming tap has only 1-1.5, allowing it to reach the bottom of a hole
