The disc separator, or disc stack separator, comprises a rotating assembly bowl operating at high speed, a drive mechanism and a cast base frame.

Working principle

Disc separator is a device that can quickly and continuously separate solid-liquid and liquid-liquid. The aliases are also called disc centrifuges and disc stack separators, both of which belong to a type of vertical separator. Its working principle is driven by a motor to rotate at a high speed. There is a group of dish-shaped parts nestled together in the bowl. There is a small gap between each two discs. The suspension (or emulsion) is fed into the bowl from a feed tube located in the center of the bowl. When the suspension (or emulsion) flows through the gap between the discs, the solid particles (or droplets) settle on the discs under the action of the centrifuge to form a sediment (or liquid layer). The sludge slides along the surface of the disc to separate from the disc and accumulate in the large diameter part of the bowl. The separated liquid is discharged from the liquid outlet to the bowl. The function of the disc is to shorten the settlement distance of solid particles (or droplets) and expand the settlement area of ​​the bowl. The installation of the disc in the bowl greatly increases the production capacity of the separator. The solids accumulated in the bowl can be removed manually after the separator is shut down by disassembling the bowl, or discharged from the drum through the slag discharge mechanism without stopping the machine.
