Inside the horizontal bowl, the high speed rotation creates a sharp interface between settled solids and clarified liquor. The screw conveyor advances the sediment toward the conical beach where drainage is completed before discharge, while the clarified water flows over adjustable weirs and returns to the washing circuit. The differential speed between bowl and conveyor is regulated by a hydraulic or electric back drive under PLC supervision, allowing the operator to optimize cake dryness against solids throughput in seconds from the touch screen panel.
