ASD-001 Resin for Ammonia Pretreatment of Landfill Leachate

ASD-001 is a macroporous strong acid cation exchange resin with sulfonic acid groups on a polystyrene-divinylbenzene matrix, supplied in Na+ or H+ form. Landfill leachate and other high strength wastewaters often carry ammonia nitrogen loads that inhibit biological treatment; ASD-001 removes ammonium ions in a controlled pretreatment step so the downstream biological process can perform at design efficiency.

Q1: Can ASD-001 handle very high ammonia concentrations?
Yes, but for economic operation the media is best applied after free ammonia is reduced to a manageable level, or in staged loading. Share your average and peak ammonia values for a process recommendation.
Q2: How is fouling controlled in leachate service?
Prefiltration to remove suspended solids plus periodic backwash and, when needed, a dilute acid or brine clean-in-place keeps the bed performing.
Q3: What regeneration chemicals are required?
Sodium chloride brine for sodium-form operation or dilute hydrochloric acid for hydrogen-form operation. Standard dosing equipment is sufficient.
Q4: Is sampling supported?
