Corona Treatment Roller serves as a critical part of the corona treatment system, where it supports and conveys the BOPP film as it undergoes surface modification. The corona roll works in conjunction with an electrode: when high-voltage electricity is applied, a corona discharge (a form of plasma) is generated between the electrode and the roll's surface. This discharge alters the BOPP film's surface properties by increasing its surface energy, which enhances adhesion capabilities—making the film more receptive to inks, adhesives, or coatings in subsequent processing steps.

1. Structural Cooperation
   The corona roll is typically positioned opposite a set of electrodes (such as metal blades or electrode rods). The material to be treated (e.g., plastic films, paper) passes through the gap between the corona roll and the electrodes. The corona roll acts as a grounded electrode, providing stable support for the material during processing, while its surface material (often high-temperature and corrosion-resistant, like silicone or ceramic) ensures uniform contact with the material.
2. Corona Discharge Generation
   When a high-frequency (usually 10-50kHz) and high-voltage (several thousand volts) power supply is applied between the electrodes and the corona roll, the air or inert gas in the gap between them is ionized, creating a corona discharge—a form of low-temperature plasma. This plasma consists of high-energy electrons, ions, and reactive radicals, which possess strong chemical activity.
3. Surface Modification of Materials
   As the material (e.g., plastic films, paper) passes through the plasma region, the high-energy particles in the corona discharge bombard the material's surface. This process breaks the original chemical bonds on the material's surface (especially for non-polar materials like polypropylene) and introduces polar functional groups (such as hydroxyls and carboxyls). These changes increase the material's surface energy, significantly improving its wettability and adhesion, making it more receptive to inks, adhesives, or coatings in subsequent production steps.
4. Ensuring Uniform Treatment
   The design of the corona roll—including its surface smoothness, precision in maintaining the discharge gap, and synchronization with the material's conveying speed—ensures that the corona discharge acts uniformly across the entire surface of the material. This avoids uneven treatment (e.g., over-treatment or under-treatment in local areas) and guarantees consistent surface modification effects, which is crucial for maintaining product quality in industrial production.
