PPS+PTFE blended filter media consists of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fibers, commonly used to filter dust, particulates, and other contaminants from air or gases. This hybrid material offers excellent chemical resistance, high-temperature stability, and low extractability, typically supplied in needle-punched felt form. Product parameters include fiber composition, basis weight, thickness, and air permeability. For example, basis weights range from 550 to 650 g/m², while thicknesses measure between 1.8 and 2.0 mm.
Application
The use of the PPS/PTFE blend in these critical applications is driven by its ability to deliver on three core performance requirements:
Exceptional Reliability and Durability: The PTFE component provides outstanding resistance to chemical attack, preventing degradation from acidic or alkaline flue gases. This significantly extends the filter bag's service life, reducing replacement frequency and maintenance costs.
High Filtration Efficiency: The fine fiber structure of the needle-punched felt, combined with the low surface energy of PTFE, results in superior dust cake release. This maintains a low, stable pressure drop and ensures the capture of sub-micron particles, allowing facilities to meet stringent environmental emission standards.
Thermal and Chemical Stability: The PPS base provides the necessary thermal resistance for continuous operation at temperatures up to 190°C (374°F), while the PTFE ensures the filter medium remains chemically inert, even when exposed to highly corrosive compounds.
