An excavator control valve consists of multiple integrated components:
Made of high-strength cast iron or steel to withstand high pressure (typically 300-400 bar).
Contains precision-machined oil passages for smooth hydraulic flow.
Sliding spools inside the valve body shift to open or block oil flow.
Spool movement is controlled by pilot pressure (hydraulic) or solenoid valves (electro-hydraulic).
Generates low-pressure hydraulic signals to move the main spool.
Reduces operator effort by using a smaller control pressure to regulate larger flows.
Ensures consistent flow regardless of load changes.
Prevents one function from starving another when multiple movements occur simultaneously.
Limits maximum system pressure to protect hydraulic components.
Activates when pressure exceeds a set threshold (e.g., 350 bar).
Prevent backflow and maintain cylinder position when the valve is neutral.
Some models include over-center valves for better load control.
