Product descriptions:
Prevents external contaminants from entering the system. Single lip (lip is the protrusion or edge of the seal) scraper cleans the connecting rod as it retracts. Double lip scraper cleans the connecting rod as it retracts and seals the oil to eliminate "oiling" (visible leakage). Double lip scrapers are retained in place by bearing retainers. These polyurethane scrapers are metal-encased for strength. They are often called "sealed" scrapers (metal-encased) or "J" scrapers (metal usually looks like a "J" in cross-section).
